About Matt Ulrich
MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING AT PIE
Doing the great work we do while living in Montana. My wife and I always dreamed of raising our family in Bozeman, MT, but 20 years ago there were far fewer professional job available. It warms my heart that when we delight clients and grow our business, we create new jobs here in Montana for families who have the same dreams I did.
A PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT I’M PROUD OF
I’m a former Captain of the Northwestern football team and a Super Bowl XLI Champion (‘06 Indianapolis Colts), which instilled in me the importance of teamwork, grit, and leadership. I’m currently a player advisor for the Harvard Football Players Health study, enabling me to contribute to valuable research in my passion area. To strengthen my business skills, I obtained executive education certifications from Stanford in Strategic Marketing Management and from Harvard Business School in Leading Professional Services Firms.
HOW I LIVE A FULL LIFE
Keeping up with my four pre-teen sons is the highlight of my life and keeps me on my toes. I also invest my time in helping young athletes in our area reach their full potential through coaching and training—this is one of my true passions. I can also often be found at the gym, where I recently bench-pressed 505 pounds at the age of 40—the goal-setting doesn’t stop!
MY BEST $100 PURCHASE
In memory of my late grandfather, he once promised me a two-dollar Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book if I could conquer the monkey bars 30 times. Despite my hands becoming bloodied and blistered, I pushed through and completed the last three repetitions with sheer determination and heart. This transformative experience revealed the importance of setting goals, embracing grit, and maintaining unwavering determination, qualities that continue to drive me forward in life.
MY BOOK RECOMMENDATION
The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle brilliantly delves into the art and science of achieving excellence in both sports and business. Coyle unravels the secrets behind why certain individuals become luminaries in their respective fields. It’s a captivating read.
