MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING AT PIE

How smart everyone is! PIE is such a unique workplace; it’s unlike any organization I have worked with before. I’ve met people from all over the US, who speak different languages, come from various backgrounds and educations, and are hungry and curious to learn more. There’s very little stagnation at PIE, and that feels exciting!

HOW I LIVE A FULL LIFE

I make time to practice yoga, and I make time for good friends who show me love and make me feel safe. I travel to places I love (like New Orleans) and to new places (so far, Austin and hoping for Colombia later this year). I support my local community by attending shows, plays, dance parties, etc. To make sure I’m spending my time on the right things, I consistently check in with myself and ask: What do I need right now?

MY BEST $100 PURCHASE

Golf shoes! I’ve played caddy for a number of years, and this year, I’m becoming a golfer! I’m really looking forward to using these shoes as one way to help me feel comfortable on the greens and take on this new summer hobby.

MY BOOK RECOMMENDATION

Life Doesn’t Frighten Me at All, originally a poem by Maya Angelou, made into a children’s book. I read this book with my younger sisters while growing up, and it instilled such an important lesson of being confident (and curious) in the face of adversity. It celebrates blackness and offers an empowering message to people of all ages.
